The Name Game

So, my good friend ktbob  had a post up on her journal: volunteer for her little game and she would give you a letter. You had to come up with 5 fictional characters whose names begin with said letter. Because she loves me (and also loves my favorite fictional character in the whole wide world), she assigned me the letter 'R'.  Now, Miss Non-Creative has to come up with 5 characters that begin with the letter 'R', and so far off the top of my head, I can only come up with 2. Why, oh why did I agree to do this?! I'll give it a shot.

Yes, this is Ratatouille, my favorite little chef. I know, he's a dirty little rat, but isn't that the irony of it? When this movie first came out, I couldn't figure out how I was going to enjoy a movie about a rat that cooks. But, being the good mother that I am, always sacrificing and seeing terrible movies for my children (recently "The Three Stooges" and "Pirates: Band of Misfits"...2 weeks in a row!), I took my daughters to see it - and damned if it didn't become one of my favorite Disney movies ever. Who'da thunk?

Henry Nelson O'Neil-Rosalind As You Like It Pictures, Images and Photos

Rosalind from Shakespeare's "As You Like It". Really, I adore Shakespeare, especially the comedies. And this is one of my favorites, along with "Much Ado About Nothing", which incidentally does not have any character names beginning with the letter 'R'. Rosalind is a headstrong, independent woman who disguises herself as a man after being exiled from her uncle's court. She's smart, beautiful and loyal. Who wouldn't want to be like her?

Ross Gellar Pictures, Images and Photos

Ross Gellar from "Friends". He's a major geek, but in a cute way, and he ends up getting the girl in the end. I'm a sucker for a happy ending.

Rapunzel and Pascal Pictures, Images and Photos

Rapunzel from "Tangled". This is currently my granddaughters' favorite movie. I can't even tell you how many times they've seen it. It's in the DVD player in our Honda Odyssey, and they can't get enough of it. And you know what? Neither can I. It's adorable! Rapunzel is smart and sweet and innocent, but she can take care of herself. She ends up being reunited with her family, saves the hero of the story and lives happily ever after. It makes me a little verklempt every time, and I find myself singing along to all of the songs. Every. Time.

And last, but most certainly not least, and I'm sure the reason why Ms. Kate assigned me the letter 'R' (God love her):

Luke and Reid Pictures, Images and Photos

Reid Oliver, possibly my favorite fictional character of all time. The man (and the actor who played him, Eric Sheffer-Stevens) has made me act like a teenager. I was going to try and find a picture of him by himself, but look at this: he's smiling and eye-sexing Luke. What could be better than that? Look how gorgeous he is!  *sigh* I just wish the pic was a little less blurry. But on to the man himself: he's a genius, he's witty, he's surly, and he loves our Luke. It's like he was saving up all of his love for Luke, but ended up spreading it around to a few other folks, namely Katie, Jacob and Bob. He's a loyal friend and a brilliant doctor, and did I mention that he's HOT? Oh yes. And he led me to so many wonderful people who remain good friends today, almost 2 years after the show ended. Yup, he is most definitely my favorite 'R' E-VER!
